VPN Access with OpenVPN
Getting VPN Access
Talk with your supervisor/manager to see if you need VPN access, and they will need to approve this
Submit a ticket under the General Queue, and Computing Services will get approval from your supervisor/manager
Once you have been added to the VPN group, an OpenVPN file will be emailed to you, please keep this email
Download your file and save this to your Google Drive
Contact Computing Services once you have saved your file. Computing Services will need to add the VPN file for the first time
Connecting to OpenVPN
Double click the OpenVPN GUI icon on your desktop.
If this icon is not on your desktop or it doesn't show up when you search for it, search for Software Center and you'll be able to download the app there.
2. Navigate to the lower right hand corner of your screen, and left click the up arrow.
3. Navigate to the computer with a lock icon and right click.
4. If you're setting up your VPN for the first time, click Import file and then find your .ovpn file to import. If you can't find your .ovpn file, in your email search for "ovpn" and it should be an email from Nate Sellers (Nate is not emailing these files, the VPN scripts just send them from his address).
If your VPN is already set up, click Connect.
5. Enter in your username and password, and select OK. Optional: You can check the Save password box.
Disconnect from OpenVPN
Navigate to the lower right hand corner of your screen, and left click the up arrow.
Navigate to the computer with an lock icon and right click.
Select Disconnect
Important Reminder: Turn off your VPN while connected to asuEwifi or a wired Ethernet connections. If you fail to turn this off and are connected to one of these Networks, your Internet will not work.
