Software Center
Install Windows 11 Operating System (OS)
Search for Software Center using your desktop's search bar
Open Software Center
On the left side panel, navigate to Operating Systems
Click on Windows 11 and select Install
Install Optional Software
Through Software Center, you are able to install Computing Services approved software on-demand, without need for Administrative login.
To do so:
Some computers have a desktop icon which can be double-clicked.
If your computer does not have the desktop icon, in the bottom left search bar, type “software center.” The Software Center app will appear in this window. Click on it to open.
It might take some time to load, but the Software Center should pop up like this:
In the applications section, there are applications that are available for your device. You can click on and install them without the need for an administrative account or password.
In the Updates section, you will see updates for apps that you have installed. Again, administrative access is not required.
If the software that you desire is not available in the Software Center, or the Applications Catalog, it is not available for self installation.
Updating Apps
Some apps, like Chrome, won't operate correctly unless they have been updated to the current version. For security reasons, updates for apps aren't available through the web, but they are in Software Center.
