Computing Services and Google recommend using the Gmail App to receive mail on your iPhone and iPad. The app brings the best of Gmail with real-time notifications, multiple account support and search across your entire inbox.

To sync your contacts:

Open the Settings app on your device.

1. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

2. Select Add Account.

3. Select Google.

4. Fill out your account information in the following fields:

   1. Name: Enter your name

   2. User Name: Enter your full ASU email address. For example, username@adams.edu

   3. Password: Your Google Account or Google Apps password.

   4. Description: Enter a description of the account (e.g. Personal Contacts).

5. Select Next at the top of your screen.

6. Make sure that the "Contacts" option is turned ON. The switch should be green. If you like, you can also make sure Calendar is enabled so your ASU Google Calendar also syncs.

7. Select Save at the top of your screen.

8. After you've completed setup, open the Contacts app on your device, and syncing will automatically begin.

Android Devices

The instructions below are shown on an Android phone.

Add an account

If you’d like to add other accounts to your Gmail app, follow these steps:

Open the Gmail app.

1. Touch the menu on the top left.

2. At the top, touch the down arrow to the right of your username.

3. Touch Add account.

4. If you’re adding:

A Gmail or Google for Work address, touch Google. A non-Gmail address (like Yahoo or Hotmail), touch Personal (POP, IMAP). A business email address that uses Exchange, touch Corporate (available for Nexus devices running Android 5.0 or higher).

1. Follow the steps on the screen to add your account.

Switch between accounts

Messages on the Gmail app stay separate for each separate account. To switch between accounts:

Open the Gmail app. Touch the menu on the top left . At the top left, touch the smaller circle representing the account you want to switch to.
