Setting up Thunderbird for Squirrelmail Mail Server

  • When you open Thunderbird for the first time you will see the "Mail Account Setup" wizard. You can also start this wizard by going to File > New > Mail account.


  • Enter first name and last name as you would like it to appear on outgoing emails.
  • Enter you full email address.
  • Enter your password.
  • For security reasons we recommend you uncheck "Remember Password"
  • Click Continue.
  • Verify the server settings:
    • incoming: port: 993 SSL: SSL/TLS Authentication: Normal Password
    • outgoing: port:587 SSL: STARTTLS Authentication: Normal Password

  • Click "Create Account"

Setting up Thunderbird for Personal Gmail

  • If your email account has been migrated to Gmail, you will need to set up the new account in Thunderbird.
  • Click on File > New > Existing Email Account


  • Enter in your name, full email address, and password.
  • Click continue.
  • Verify the server settings:
    • Incoming: IMAP Server Hostname: port: 993 SSL: SSL/TLS Authentication: Normal Password
    • Outgoing: SMTP Server Hostname: port: 465 SSL: SSL/TLS Authentication: Normal Password
