Personal Computer Recommendations
Please consider the below recommendations when purchasing a computer for use at Adams State University.
While tablets, smartphones, chromebooks, netbooks and other mobile devices may allow for some completion of coursework, they are not guaranteed to work in all areas. If you plan to use one of these mobile devices as your primary device we recommend you utilize the Adams State computer labs to supplement your device. We now have two 24/7 computer labs that students can access using their student ID cards. For more information on our Student Labs, please visit the link below. We use Dell and Apple computers in our student labs.

Student Computer Standards: Minimum Configurations
PCs and Macs
- Intel Core I series or AMD processor
- 4 GB memory
- 250 GB hard drive or higher
- Wired/wireless Ethernet card
- Windows 7 or higher, Mac OS 10.8 or higher
- Word Processing software such as Microsoft Office or LibreOffice
- Warranty - we strongly suggest a warranty that covers manufacture defects as well as accidental damage
- Virus and Spyware protection
Student Computer Standards: Recommended Configurations
PCs and Macs
- Processor i5 greater/equivalent CPU
- 8 GB memory
- 250 GB hard drive or higher
- wired/wireless Ethernet card
- Windows 7 or higher, Mac OS 10.8 or higher
- Word Processing software such as Microsoft Office or LibreOffice
- Warranty - we strongly suggest a warranty that covers manufacture defects as well as accidental damage
- Virus and Spyware protection
